Appleton Road Construction Report

The Road Construction Report is maintained by the City’s Department of Public Works (832-6474) to advise motorists of work zones that may interrupt traffic in the community. Motorists are encouraged to plan their routes accordingly and are urged to exercise caution in construction zones.


Work Scheduled to take place between: 9/21/2014 - 9/28/2014 

ELDORADO ST:  On September 2, Eldorado Street from Catherine Street to Wood Street will be closed to through traffic due to water main, sanitary and storm sewer reconstruction. Property owners will have access to their driveways at the end of each workday. The estimated date of completion including site restoration is November 14th.

FRANKLIN ST:  Private contractor will close Franklin St, between Oneida St and Morrison St, to install signs.  Closure schedule to begin 10:15pm Thursday evening and be complete the following morning by 5:00am.

FREMONT ST:  Freemont Street, from Kernan Avenue to Telulah Avenue, will be closed to thru traffic, starting August 25, 2014, to facilitate the reconstruction of the existing concrete pavement.  The proposed reconstruction of Freemont Street is expected to be completed by October 10, 2014.

GLENDALE AVE:  Glendale Avenue, Ballard Road to Roemer Road is closed to thru traffic for sewer & water reconstruction.  A detour has been established using Ballard Road - Northland Avenue - Roemer Road during construction.  Work is estimated to be completed by October 1, 2014.  

GLENDALE AVE:  Glendale Avenue, Roemer Rd to Sandra will be restricted to one lane in each direction for water main construction.  Access to the Municipal Yard Waste site will be maintained.  Estimated date of completion is November 3, 2014

GREEN BAY RD:  On September 15th, Green Bay Road from Washington Street to North Street will be closed to thru traffic due to sanitary and storm sewer construction. Once the underground facilities have been installed a portion of Green Bay Road will be repaved with concrete. The estimated completion date including site restoration is November 14th.

JOHN ST:  John Street traffic between Fidelis Street and Emmers Drive will be shifted to the north side of the pavement, allowing one lane of traffic in each direction.   No on street parking will be allowed on either side of John Street.  A significant amount of construction truck traffic will be entering and leaving this work zone.  Work is currently scheduled to occur Monday through Saturday. 

LAWE ST:  Lawe Street will be closed to thru traffic from Alton Street to South Island Street, starting September 22, 2014, to facilitate maintenance on the bridge.  Construction is expected to be completed by September 30, 2014. A detour route of E. South River Street, John Street and College Avenue will be provided. 

LYNNDALE DR:  Lynndale Drive will be under construction from Fourth Street to Everett Street starting on July 21st to facilitate the reconstruction of the existing pavement.  Traffic control for Lynndale Drive will be established as one-way traffic in the southbound direction.  A detour will be established for northbound traffic for the duration of the project.  The detour route will consist of Leonard Street, Perkins Street, Second Street, Whitman Avenue, and Spencer Street.  Construction is expected to be completed by September 26, 2014.

PLANK RD:  Plank Road will be closed to thru traffic from Midway Road to Lake Park Road to facilitate the construction of new concrete pavement.  Construction is expected to be completed by September 26, 2014.

RICHMOND ST:  A Wisconsin DOT project to raise the STH 47 bridge clearance over US 41 and make intersection improvements will continue through October 17, 2014. All exit and entrance ramps will be closed throughout the project duraction, except for occational night time work to reroute traffic. North/south traffic on Richmond Street will remain open, but will be limited to one lane in each direction. ROOSEVELT ST:  Private Contractor will close Roosevelt Street to through traffic, between Meade St and Union St, to repair underground utilities.  Closure scheduled to begin Tuesday, September 23th and be complete by end of day Wednesday, Spetember 24th.  

SANDRA ST:  Sandra St, Pershing St to Glendale Ave will be closed to thru traffic for water relay starting Monday, September 8.  Work is estimated to be completed by October 3, 2014.

SPRING ST:  Spring Street from Badger Avenue to Sharon Street shall be closed to through traffic due to water main reconstruction. Businesses and residents shall have access to their property at all times. The estimated completion, including site restoration is October 2nd.

SUPERIOR ST:  A contractor for Radison Hotel will close Superior Street, between College and Lawrence, to replace mechanical equipment on the roof.  Closure schedule to begin Tuesday, September 23rd, 8:30 AM, and last up to 5 hours.

TAHOE LA:  Tahoe Lane will be closed to thru traffic from Solitude Lane to Plank Road, starting September 1, 2014, to facilitate the construction of new concrete pavement.  Construction is expected to be completed by October 3, 2014.

WASHINGTON ST:  Private contractor will close Washignton St, between the Transit Center and Morrison St, to install signs.  Closure schedule to begin 10:15pm Wednesday evening and be complete the following morning by 5:00am.

WISCONSIN AVE:  Wisconsin Avenue, Summit St to Mason St will have traffic restricted to one lane in each direction starting Monday, September 22 for pavement restoration.  Work will be completed by 12pm on Friday, September 26, 2014.

WOOD ST:  On September 2nd, Wood Street from North Street to Eldorado Street will be closed to through traffic due to water main and sanitary sewer reconstruction. Property owners shall have access to their driveways at the end of each workday. The estimated completion date, including site restoration is November 14th.
