Memorial Day collage, Jeff Lindsay

Over 40 units, made up of hundreds of individuals, will participate to honor the military services and the soldiers who stepped forward to protect our country.

The lineup will be listed below when it has been finalized.

  1. At 8:57 AM please turn off all engines and stifle any instrument playing in the staging area to prepare for the following sequence of events:  At 8:58 AM, the City of Appleton Band will play the National Anthem.  Immediately after, The Scarlet Guard Color Guard's Rifle Squad will fire one blank round to signal the start of the parade at 9:00 AM.  The American Legion Riders will then pull out to clear the route.  The parade will start immediately thereafter lead by an Appleton Police Department squad car.
  2. The 2018 Parade route is as follows:  Starts at the corner of College Ave. & Appleton St., heads east on College Ave. to Meade St.  Turns north on Meade St. to Pacific St.  East on Pacific St.  Parade ends at the entrance of the Riverside Cemetery (corner of Pacific St. & Owaissa St.).
  3. ALL color/honor guards and marching units are asked to file into Riverside Cemetery to participate in the ceremony immediately following the parade.  During the ceremony, please have your units follow the commands lead by the Field Commander of The Scarlet Guard Color Guard from Appleton's American Legion Post No. 38.
  4. Float & motorized units that are not transporting persons taking part in the ceremony are asked to continue north on Owaissa St. and disband past Nawada St.  This will eliminate unnecessary congestion, and allow for the rest of the parade to proceed.  Make sure your vehicle driver is aware of this rule.
  5. Special thanks to Lamers Bus Lines for donating the trolley bus for the high school National Honor Society students to ride on in the Parade, and for shuttling back participants downtown after the parade and ceremonies.
  6. Immediately following the main ceremony in Riverside Cemetery, there will be one additional short ceremony at Appleton American Legion Post No. 38's cemetery plot at the entrance of St. Joseph's Cemetery (east edge of Riverside Cemetery).
