and Parade Details

The parade route will block or restrict traffic on and across College Avenue from Memorial Drive east to Lawe Street from 6:00 p.m. until approximately 8:30 p.m.

The parade staging area is on State Street from College Avenue to Fourth Street and Fourth, Fifth, Seventh and Eight Streets between Memorial Drive and Walnut Street. The staging area will be closed from 5:00 p.m. until approximately 8:00 p.m. Parking meters on both sides of College Avenue, from Memorial Drive to Drew Street, State Street from Johnston Street South to Lawrence Street and Lawrence Street from Memorial Drive east to Superior Street will be hooded by 8:00 a.m. on parade day. The meter hoods will provide free parking until 4:00 p.m. After 4:00 p.m. cars in the restricted areas will be towed at the owner’s expense. Both sides of State Street from Lawrence Street south to Prospect Avenue will be posted “NO PARKING”. Fourth, Fifth, Seventh and Eight Streets between Memorial Drive and Walnut Street will also be posted “NO PARKING” after 4:00 p.m.

Beginning at 5 pm, Lawrence Street from Memorial Drive to Superior Street will become a one-way eastbound street.  Vehicles will be directed to enter the one-way at Memorial Drive and continue east following the posted one-way signs.  Residents and employees of businesses in the area should plan accordingly.

Vehicles with parade business will be able to pull to either side of Lawrence to conduct drop offs.  All traffic will be allowed to use the temporary Lawrence one-way.

Lawrence Street will return to its normal two-way traffic flow once the parade units begin moving on State Street, shortly after 6:30 pm. The Appleton Police Department will only allow traffic to cross State Street at Lawrence (eastbound only), Sixth Street (until 6:00 p.m.), Fourth Street, Jackman Street, and Prospect Avenue.

Again, starting at 5:00 pm, no westbound traffic will be allowed on Lawrence Street from Memorial Drive to Superior Street due to a temporary one-way being put in place for eastbound Lawrence Street traffic.  Please plan accordingly. Handicapped parking stalls will be located in the 100 block of S. Walnut Street (between Lawrence and the south alley) and the 100 block of N. Durkee Street (between College and Johnston).

Anyone with questions regarding this traffic plan can contact Sgt. Keith Bredael with the Appleton Police Department at 832-5500.
